Oakley is 2-1/2yo, weighs 50lbs, is neutered, is up to date on his vaccines, and is microchipped. Oakley's guardian adds: "In the home he is as sweet as he can be. Super cuddly. Super goofy. His favorite things include new stuffed animals to rip apart or new toys of any kind. He gets so excited and wiggly and it's pure joy to watch. He loves to sit for treats and does seem to learn quickly if something is taught correctly. He thinks he's a lap dog and will slowly climb his way right up onto somebody's lap and demand pettings and take a nap. He's also got the silliest facial expressions and smiles alot. He knows 'sit', 'paw', and 'crate'. Oakley is kept in his crate during the day and sleeps in his guardian's bed with her at night. Also, he loves car rides."
Oakley's guardian explains why she has made the difficult decision to rehome him: "Oakley lunges and barks at anybody who comes into the home. I've tried for 7 months since I adopted him to curb his behavior with no improvement. And unless I keep him crated 24/7, I cannot fully be sure that somebody will not walk into my home unexpected as I do have three children."
Oakley's guardian states the following regarding children: Although Oakley lives with children, ages 7-17, his guardian doesn't recommend his living with children, stating...
"I'm unsure how he will respond to children outside of my home. When we met him at the shelter, he responded great to my children. But once we learned that he does not like anybody who he has not deemed his people, we have not taken him around other children outside of the home. He has been around children in my home but it's a very long drawn out process to get him able to be out of the crate."
Oakley's guardian states the following regarding dogs: Oakley lives with a dog, so his guardian recommends his living with dogs, stating...
"He needs a proper meet and greet with any potential dog siblings. He does not like small dogs. He will try to attack them from what I have seen. But he does live with a black lab and upon meeting her he initially did not care about her one bit but grew to like her and they play great together."
Oakley's guardian states the following regarding cats: Although Oakley lives with cats, his guardian doesn't recommend his living with cats, stating "He doesn't want to harm the cats it seems; but he definitely wants to chase them".
Oakley's guardian describes him as:
Very active
Barks alot
Playful
Likes to be touched
Affectionate
Fearful
Protective
Always at your side
Indoor dog
Nervous
House-Trained
Crate-Trained
Likes women and men (initially nervous around men, but eventually warms up to them)
Digger
Oakley's guardian describes his ideal future home: "Ideally his family would consist of adults and older children as he gets very anxious when young children start carrying on. I think that he would do good with a doggy pal as he does love to carry on and play hard. A fenced-in yard would be great, but not required, to get all of his zoomies out."
