BRUCE is a gentle soul with a heart of gold. He is wonderful with big dogs, small dogs, and everything in between. BRUCE is intelligent, compassionate, and affectionate. He likes to be near his people and wants nothing more than to please them. As much as he loves adults, he loves children even more. He is fabulous in the car and always friendly, which means he is the dog who can go anywhere! While he is perfectly content lounging around the house with you, he is equally as thrilled to be accompanying you on whatever adventure you have chosen for the day, making him a perfect traveling companion. BRUCE enjoys spending time with his fellow canine friends. He loves to romp and play outside with them and has yet to meet one he didn’t get along with. His very best friend is a 10lb chihuahua, and they are basically inseparable. BRUCE is housebroken, crate trained and has wonderful manners while inside. His sweet nature endears him to everyone he meets. This guy is one of those rare gentle souls that some people are never lucky enough to meet in their lifetimes. As with all of our dogs, we want BRUCE to go to the perfect forever home for HIM. We want his transition from foster home to forever home to be as easy as possible. Therefore, BRUCE's forever will ideally have at least one other canine family member. Previous mastiff ownership is a plus, but not required. That being said, large/xl dog experience is required to be considered for adoption.

BRUCE is neutered, microchipped and up to date on all vaccinations including 2 rounds of both the H3N2 and H3N8 canine influenza vaccinations.
His $540 adoption fee covers his interstate health certificate and the cost of transport to the midwest

All of our dogs start their journey in Memphis, Tennessee where they remain in loving foster families until they are adopted. Once adopted, some pups stay local in Memphis. Many others travel via one of our transport partners to their new forever homes. We use Pet Express Transport (https://petexpresstupelo.wordpress.com) for our Nashville, Knoxville and New England adoptions. For our Midwest adopters, we have our own private transport.

Breed selection is done in conjunction with two local vets and is not to be considered a guarantee but rather a well-educated decision from well qualified staff.

Due to the extremely high volume of inquiries we receive, we ask that you request, complete, and submit an application before asking additional questions. We try very hard to include all pertinent information in our bios. We are excited to help you find your new family member. However, Woof River is 100% volunteer operated. We want to spend our time saving dogs and assisting those adopters who have taken the time to complete an application. Thank you for understanding.

The first step towards adopting a Woof River Animal Rescue pup is completing the adoption application! The application gives us background information necessary to select the best fit family for each dog and vise versa. We are excited to work with you to find your furry new family member! We take our job very seriously and want to do everything possible to ensure each and every dog will be with his adopted family for life.

***We highly suggest submitting an application describing the type of dog you are looking for even if you don't see that particular dog on our adoptapet page. Many pups in our program are not posted on adoptapet because they get adopted before we have time to post them. We typically have 35 to 50 adoptable pups at all times so we may have your perfect match! Also, there are hundreds of homeless dogs in this area so there is a large chance that just what you are searching for can be found.***

TIP: Provide everything that is requested on the adoption application. For example: if we ask for email addresses and phone numbers that means we need both.

We are all volunteers, but we also respect the time of our adopters. We try to have all applications processed in 5 business days or less. Once your application has been processed we will contact you. If you are approved, then we will send you the adoption contract, spay/neuter contract (for puppies under 6 months), transport information, and payment information. All adoption fees may be paid via PayPal, credit card, or debit card. All payments are handled securely through the PayPal site. However, you do not have to have a PayPal account to pay with credit or debit.

Adoption fees are $290 for Memphis, $340 for Nashville, and $490 for our Knoxville, Midwest, and New England. Adoption fees are a direct result of $290 local adoption fee plus cost of health certificate and transport. The only exception to this pricing would be for puppies under 6 months of age who are already spayed or neutered. Their adoption fees are $340 for Memphis, $390 for Nashville, and $540 for Knoxville, the Midwest, and New England.

Once the adoption is official, we put our adopters in touch with the foster parents. The foster parents are happy to talk with you about your dog's current routine and favorite things. This is priceless in helping you prepare for your new arrival!

In order to qualify for Woof River’s program all of the following steps must be met:

• You must be at least 18 years of age and be able to provide proof of age.
• Any current pets must be up to date on vaccinations and heartworm test, be spayed/neutered, and receive consistent heartworm preventative. Exceptions to this will only be considered if proof of a medical explanation is provided.
• If you currently rent, you must provide a landlord’s phone number and a copy of your executed lease.
• All members of the family living in the home where the animal will be placed must agree be interviewed.
• If needed, you allow a Woof River representative into your home for a visit to insure that your home is safe for the potential new dog.
• Be able and willing to spend the time and money necessary to provide training, medical treatment and proper care for a pet.

Because we are a volunteer based organization and we receive hundreds of inquiries each day. We are unable to answer all questions until an adoption application has been received.

All of our dogs are fostered in the Memphis area. We are happy to for you to come to Memphis and meet any of our dogs once you have an APPROVED adoption application on file. We unable to do meet and greets prior to adoption for anyone outside of Memphis, unless you are willing and able to travel to Memphis yourself.

Woof River Animal Rescue is a 100% volunteer run foster based organization in Memphis, TN. Our mission is to save as many dogs and puppies as possible from high kill shelters and the streets in the South. Each and every dog lives as part of the family in a loving foster home until the perfect forever home is found.

An average of 1200 dogs a month are euthanized in the MidSouth. There are also countless dogs living on the streets without vet care or even shelter. These heartbreaking numbers are the fuel that keeps us working all day every day for free.
