Eleanor is a cute little Holland Lop who came into the rescue in horrible condition. Her previous owners had gotten her as a pet for their children, but then nobody ever paid any attention to her. This caused her to develop some behavior issues, which unfortunately caused the owners to spend even less time with her. When her owners were evicted from their apartment, they abandoned this bunny in the apartment when they left. Luckily, she was brought to us by somebody who knew the original owners.
We have had to do a lot of work with Eleanor to get her to start trusting people again. As you can see in the pictures, her nails were essentially never clipped in her entire life, so they were curling in on themselves. You could tell that they were causing her a lot of pain. Even though she was extremely skittish when she first arrived at the shelter, she did seem genuinely grateful to finally get her nails trimmed. She even happily took her treat afterward for being a good girl!
Eleanor has come around on seeing that people aren't all going to treat her like her previous owners did, and she is always super excited to see us when we come around during feeding times. We truly believe that Eleanor could make a great addition to her future furever family, but they will have to be willing to put in the work to make sure that she feels safe and secure.

We are dedicated to educating people about the joys of having a house rabbit(s) companion and promoting care that will give those companions the best chance at a happy, healthy, long life.
Bunny Lu also provides temporary foster care to abandoned and neglected rabbits and arranges adoptions into loving, indoor, forever homes. While we do not condone the surrendering of rabbits, we understand that providing assistance to those people trying to improve their rabbits' quality of life sometimes requires finding a new home for the rabbits.
