Hello there! I'm S'mores, a charming bulldog with a heart as soft as my fur. While I might come across as a bit shy and reserved at first, give me a moment, and you'll see the warmth in my eyes unfold.
I'm at my best when I'm in the company of dogs my size. Growing up surrounded by five furry bulldog siblings, I guess I've developed a preference for canine camaraderie. I'm slowly learning other doggies can be amazing friends--who make me so much more brave when exploring the world! Dog intros would be a must!
My sheltered upbringing left me a bit sensitive to sudden noises and movements, but fear not, gentle pets from kiddos are well-received! I like little ones but I would do best if my furever home had kids who are at least school-aged.
As the sun rises on cold mornings, I confess—I get a bit stiff in my joints. But let's face it, don't we all? The good news is, no medical concerns here past my anxiety. I'm a healthy, usually happy pup ready to embark on adventures with a companion who appreciates a dash of canine quirkiness.
So, if you're someone patient, understanding, and loves a good cuddle, swipe right! Let's create a love story filled with pawprints, laughter, and cozy moments. Can't wait to meet you and share the journey of life's adventures together! S'mores is located in Omaha. Interested adopters will need to travel to Omaha with all two and four legged family members to meet her. Her adoption fee is set at $350
--Updated as of 6/9/24: S'mores tried out a home with a single guy and no other animals and decided she needs someone who is home more than he was able to be. She's currently on prozac to help take the edge off of her anxiety as well as Calming Care. We're hoping she can wean off once she finally settles into her furever home but it may just be something she needs to be successful.
S'mores loves hanging out in her crate and tends to prefer a quiet environment. She seems unbothered by other animals currently. If around a playful dog, she's very tolerant, but will give a quick correction when she's at her limit. She doesn't hold a grudge and just be-bops along as if nothing happened. She loves the comfort of furniture and will be sure to leave her slobbery mark. She's got a bit of a jelly nose when it comes to attention. If another dog is getting attention, she wants in. We are still working on potty training as outside is scary for her--like many dogs who were used for breeding, S'mores has a tendency to mark/urinate in her bed/blanket. She startles easily and is still getting comfortable with outside being a positive place. Leashes are really hard for her. Once she's on the leash she's OK.but currently she would fair better if she had a home where going outside didn't require a leash. She did encounter a toddler and was perfect, but as with all little ones I'd highly recommend supervision. Her current foster works from home which is absolutely ideal in S'mores opinion!
9/1/24: S'mores braved her first event at Trucks & Pups--it was a little overwhelming for her at times with all of the sounds, people and excitement but she was a very brave girl who loved the attention! Loud noises like roofers (insert bark here!) and fireworks over the summer make her progress with potty training tricky. She'll be doing so very well and then regresses back some when the roofers disrupt her schedule or fireworks make it too scary to venture outside. She'll need continued patience and encouragement to be a very brave girl and get those habits down pat! S'mores has learned to LOVE to play with other dogs--from her foster boxer brother to friends in the neighborhood!
