Everest In April of 2024, I gave birth to five kittens. I wasn`t planning on having a family, but I was happy to see them all go to loving homes. Moving into an HSHC condo didn`t actually float my boat. I was still trying to wrap my head around giving birth, let alone being in a shelter. I spent the months of June through November feeling unhappy. I slept more than I was awake. But in December, my life took a turn for the better as I moved into a foster home. This was a place where I could finally breathe a sigh of relief. My foster person has been great at letting me settle in at my own pace. I perked up right away and began seeking attention from the humans. I love head rubs and leaning against friendly legs, but please don`t give me a full body massage or pick me up. To be frank, I have a low tolerance for being touched, and I know young children would rub me the wrong way. If I feel I`m being treated rudely, I will swat or maybe even nip, but I don`t use my claws or teeth to express myself. My main interest centers on the fine art of playing. There has yet to be invented a toy that I don`t love! Wand toys are wildly entertaining. I also get a kick out of looking out the window and checking on the neighbors. My foster family includes three cats and a dog. Because I am very fond of being close to my humans, I have learned to tolerate the two older cats and the senior German Shepherd. It`s worth it to be able to follow my people around. But--the kitten really bugs me. Though I`d prefer to be an only pet, I can live with other critters, given a gradual introduction. I am 4-years, 7-months old, spayed, with excellent litterbox skills and a lovely dilute Calico coat. So give me a call if you`re interested. 2-17-25

With an open admission policy, a No-Kill philosophy, and more than 3,100 animals crossing our threshold each year, we have still maintained a 98% placement rate over the last 3 years.
This is an amazing feat for any organization…let alone one that takes in some of the most abused, injured and seriously ill animals imaginable.
