Meet Lacey, our sweet 5-month-old Cavapoo pup! Though she’s deaf and vision-impaired, Lacey doesn’t let that slow her down—she’s a happy, playful puppy who’s just as curious and lively as any other. She's crate and house-trained and even has learned to ring bells when she needs to go outside.
Lacey is wonderful with kids of all ages and gets along well with dogs, big and small. She’s friendly, easy to redirect on walks, and loves to cuddle after a day of play. Despite her occasional clumsy puppy moments, Lacey is generally laidback and would fit well into many homes.
We would absolutely love to see her adopted by someone interested in therapy work. During her time in foster care, she’s been visiting a family member in the hospital each week and has shown a natural ability to bring comfort and joy. She's the perfect candidate for our therapy dog training program, and being specially abled herself, she has a lot to share with people who have their own limitations or are going through a tough time.

GDU does ask a minimum adoption fee of $400.00. This does not even come close to covering all expenses created by animals while in rescue. We are funded solely by the angels and volunteers willing to donate time and finances. This minimum fee includes DAPP, rabies if age appropriate,, heartworm test and preventative, if age appropriate, and flea and tick treatment, as well as neutering or spaying, if the animal is medically sound to undergo surgery. In an attempt to avoid tummy upset from a sudden change of food, the foster family may include a small, transitional bag of the food the dog/puppy has been eating. And if the dog/puppy has grown attached to a special item (like a toy or blanket), they may send that along, as well.
