My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Tom, the gentle giant with a heart of gold and a shy but sweet disposition. This large boy may seem a bit reserved at first, but once he trusts you, he'll shower you with love and affection like no other.

Tom is a big boy with an even bigger heart. Despite his imposing size, he's incredibly gentle and sensitive, preferring quiet moments of contemplation to the hustle and bustle of busy environments. He enjoys curling up in cozy corners and observing the world around him.

While Tom may take some time to warm up to new people, once he feels comfortable, he's a loyal and devoted companion. He'll follow you around the house, seeking out your company and offering silent support and companionship whenever you need it most.

If you're looking for a furry friend who will be by your side through thick and thin, then Tom is the perfect match for you. With his sweet nature and gentle demeanor, he'll quickly become an integral part of your family. Come meet Tom today and discover the joy of welcoming this lovable boy into your home!

The Chilliwack Branch is an Animal Protection Centre for pets who have been rescued from abusive or neglectful homes. The Centre is open to the public by appointment only due to the security issues associated with housing animals awaiting the outcome of legal proceedings. We will accept surrendered animals by appointment only, and we are open for adoptions on special occasions.

More about this shelter

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
