My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

If you would like more information about Iris or are interested in adopting her, please send an email to jeanmarieloftin@gmail.com or contact this number, 713-838-5934

Iris was found at five months old as a friendly stray. She’s now seven months (8 lbs.), completely vetted (spayed, vaccinated/routine tests, microchipped, flea prevention, etc.), healthy, and ready for adoption.

More About IRIS: She is a loyal, friendly, sweet, engaging, and intelligent cat, who loves to play. She is just as content to lounge peacefully close to her human. She makes the friendliest “burbling” sounds (a meow + purr + chirp) when she is happy. Her favorite toys are all types of balls (especially tossed on stairs), catnip mice, and all wand toys. She is also happy to quietly birdwatch at the window from a perch.

Iris uses scratching posts and the litter box like a pro! She loves her cat carrier and has no trouble going in and even naps in it. She is not a finicky eater. She also enjoys being brushed- she has an extra soft, unique tabby coat with a mix of stripes, spots, and some tortie patches (how cute is her orange stripe on her neck?).

Her Ideal Home: Iris would do best with a typical 9-5 schedule (she sleeps through the night), and one that can provide her with a routine. She would be a great companion to someone who is a homebody, works part-time, from home, or is retired- she likes to be with or near her person (but is not overbearing!). A family with kids ages 10+ might be a good match since she loves to play. She could live as an only cat with plenty of daily human time. She doesn’t want to be lonely.

Other Pets: Iris would do fine as a single cat. It’s possible she could live with one other young cat, with proper and patient introductions. We are currently working on socializing her with other cats. She’s been exposed to dogs. She loves people!

Interested, or know someone who might be?: A trial pre-adoption “sleepover” can be arranged. Seeking indoor home only. Small rehoming fee. Iris comes with her kitty gear and comfort items- food, toys, window perch, and a stainless-steel water fountain.
