My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lady is a beautiful approximately 10 year old senior pup, weighing just under 50 pounds, looking for a cozy retirement home. Unfortunately, Lady's previous owner passed, and no one in the family could care for her. Thankfully, we had space to take this sweet old girl in.

At first, Lady was very apprehensive with shelter staff. It didn't take very long for her to start warming up to us! Within a few days, she had become super spunky and social! She loves to go on walks and be with people. Lady has quickly become a favorite amongst our volunteers and guests to the shelter. She is quick to greet newcomers and knows how to work a crowd! We were told she doesn't do well with other animals. She seems stressed by the other dogs when we have introduced her to them, so is looking for a home where she can be the star of the show!

Lady is a lovely girl who would no doubt bring lots of love and laughter to her new home! If you are considering opening your heart to a senior sweetie, Lady might be the one for you!

Additional adoption info

Please be sure to review the shelters Adoption Process prior to considering our facility for your adoption journey.

Adoption application

Go meet their pets

WCHS is conducting the viewing of our animals by appointment only. The Kennel Adoption Application and Cat Room Questionnaire can be found on our website under the ADOPT tab, then click Adoption Process. Please be sure to review our processes closely before filling out either form.
Once the forms are submitted, management will receive and review them within 24-48 hours. Please understand that our facility is receiving a high volume of request and are doing our best to accommodate as many as possible. Management may not contact you for 3-5 days. You will either be contacted via phone, or email with the findings of our inquiry and/or to schedule your one-on-one viewing appointment with staff.
Please understand that our facility takes the health and safety of its staff and surrounding community very seriously. With that being said, entry to our building is only granted to those who have been pre-approved and have been given a viewing appointment. Walk-in viewing IS NOT an option.

More about this shelter

As Will County’s original no-kill shelter we’ve been serving the area for over 40 years with a single purpose, provide a safe haven for homeless pets and help them find their forever home.

Every day of the year we care for up to 30 homeless dogs and 60 cats looking for their forever homes. We provide for their general health care, shelter and well being through our network of volunteers and resources.

It’s important that you know that we’re a private shelter 501(3)(c) not-for-profit that receives no federal or local government dollars to run our facility and care for pets. In fact the shelter relies on generous donations from people just like you to make it all happen.
