Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Adoption Area: East Tennessee
Snickers needs:
-Adult home experienced with shy/skittish dogs
-Children at least 12 years old
-Secure fenced yard as I am a flight risk
-Someone home part of the day to continue my house training
My name is Snickers. I’m a handsome male Chihuahua that weighs 7½ pounds and I’m just over a year old. I’ve got a sleek black body with tan markings on my face and white on my forehead, neck and white socks.
I am starting a new adventure in my life and looking for my forever home. I’m a sweet boy but very shy at first and it takes a few days for me to warm up but once I get comfortable in my new surroundings I turn into a complete love bug.
I’m learning to wear my collar and harness. However, I will need a secure fenced yard because I could be a flight risk. My ideal home will have someone that can help me continue to learn the ropes with my leash training and be patient with me because some normal home noises are scary to me. I’m getting braver though. I’m learning that it’s ok for me to be picked up and I’ve stopped running away. I’ve taught myself to sit still when my mom wants to pick me up. At first I was very afraid and I would run and I’m going to be faster than you so chasing isn’t the answer. Patience and time will help me learn that I’m safe and can be picked up.
There are other dogs that are bigger than me and I get along with them just fine as I do the cats. The other dogs here have helped me to learn to go outside to potty and I’m doing great with my house training, My new human will need to make sure that I get outside on a regular schedule to keep me honest with my potty manners. It would be nice (but not required) to have a canine companion similar in size that might want a playmate or just hang out.
Because of my small stature and my tendency to get scared of loud noises and sudden movements I would be best in a home without children younger than 12. I get nervous during car rides and it would be best for me to ride in a small crate. I will probably fuss a little but I’ll settle down.
When my foster mom has settled in for the evening or in the morning when she is having her coffee, I love being next to her or in her lap. I’ve been allowed to sleep in the big bed to help me to bond and feel safe with my human. It’s been very helpful because I’ve come a long way in just a short bit of time. My future is very promising if I find the right home that wants to show me love and keep me safe.
I know my new someone is out there and is probably reading this right now. I would love if you would go to SBRET.COM and submit an application so we can get started on my new adventure together.
I’m up to date with my vaccines, heart worm negative and on prevention and I’ve been neutered. My adoption fee is $175.
Love,
Sweet Snickers
