Introducing Pepper Moon, a petite black cat with a crescent moon scar above her eye, making her all the more unique and special. This resilient and loving mama has a story that’s sure to touch your heart.

Pepper Moon came into rescue under less-than-ideal circumstances. Her previous owners, who got her as a kitten, lost interest in her once she grew up. She found herself relocated to a chicken coop with her six newborn kittens: Mercedes, Sterling, Silver Cloud, Bentley, Capri, and Forrest. Thankfully, CARE stepped in, rescuing Pepper Moon and her babies when the kittens were just four days old.

In her foster home, Pepper Moon finally experienced the warmth, safety, and good food she deserved. Despite developing gastrointestinal issues and losing her appetite, she remained a devoted young, one year old mother, prioritizing her kittens’ well-being above all else. With the right medication and care, Pepper Moon recovered, never losing her gentle spirit even during the toughest times.

Pepper Moon’s nurturing nature ensured that her kittens grew up healthy and strong. Now, she’s ready to find her own loving home where she can be cherished and cared for as she deserves.

All of our cats are in foster homes. You can meet a cat that you are interested in at our adoption center with an appointment.

Sign Adoption Contract

Prior to adoption, every CARE cat/kitten has received a thorough exam from a veterinarian, has tested negative for FIV/Felv (except as otherwise noted), been spayed/neutered if old enough, microchipped, dewormed, given flea preventative, and been inoculated against distemper. Rabies vaccine is given if the feline is over 4 months. Any other desirable medical attention has also been provided. Also, each cat/kitten has spent its rescued time in a private home in foster care being loved and assessed for temperament and personality, needs, likes and dislikes.

After your approval by our volunteers, a legal contract is signed with an adoption donation attached (this donation helps defray the medical costs incurred).
The adoption fee is a Donation.

(C.A.R.E.) is an all-volunteer, non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization dedicated to the rehabilitation, care and adoption of cats and kittens rescued from euthanizing animal shelters in Richmond, VA and surrounding areas. And, accepts on a limited basis animals from alternative sources. We are committed to the highest principles of humane care and obtain professional medical treatment for all animals in our systems.
