My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Our adoption process can be found on our website here: www.mnpocketpetrescue.org/process

Estimated birth date: 5/9/23

Personality: Clingy, Cuddly, Hesitant, Laid back, Quiet

Favorite treats: Although they do not beg for treats or always eat from your hand, they have always eaten any treats left for them to find.

Current Diet: Oxbow Essentials Adult Rat Food

Favorite toys and activities: Always found together in a cuddly pile.

Potty trained: Litter box trained

This animal’s daily routine: Blender, Can Opener, & Waffle Iron are extremally laid back, lazy older guys. As long as they have a consistent refresh on food and water, they could really care less about a routine.

BFF (Does this animal have or need a friend of the same species in their home?): Blender, Can Opener, & Waffle Iron are a bonded trio and must be adopted together.

Other species this pet has been exposed to and reaction: Blender, Can Opener, & Waffle Iron are housed around several other animals with no reactions or attention paid to any of them.

Has this animal been exposed to children? What was their reaction? No, would be best in a quite home.

Health concerns: Can Opener has recently recovered from a URI so we are monitoring for reoccurrence.

Behavioral concerns: The kitchen boys are all in our trust training program for their shyness when being handled. They are the kindest, gentlest rats with no mean bone in their bodies but they are quite intimidated when it comes to interacting with humans and prefer not to be picked up. Learn more about our trust training methods at https://www.mnpocketpetrescue.org/trust-training

Update 8/23: Blender, Can Opener, & Waffle Iron are shy but very friendly. They have not bitten while in rescue but are quite hesitant to be picked up. Their foster works with them on this often and uses a transport box when able to move them out of the cage to retain trust.

Blender, Can Opener, & Waffle Iron came to MNPPR when their previous owner was no longer able to keep up with care.

Due to our rescue being foster-based, not all foster homes are located in Saint Paul, MN. This animal's foster parent prefers to meet at the Either PetSmart location in Rochester, MN - 3845 Marketplace Dr NW, Rochester, MN 55901 & 4603 Maine Ave SE #109, Rochester, MN 55904 for meet & greets, & adoptions.

Fee: Blender, Can Opener, & Waffle Iron have a combined adoption fee of $50

We absolutely DO NOT SHIP ANIMALS! Please do not ask.

Can Opener's care while in rescue has been sponsored by an anonymous donor. If you would like to donate to provide veterinary care, food, bedding, and enrichment for Can Opener or other pocket pets in the care of MNPPR, please visit https://www.mnpocketpetrescue.org/sponsor-a-pocket-pet for more information.

More about this rescue

MN Pocket Pet Rescue is a 501(c)(3) organization primarily serving the Twin Cities Metro Area, focusing on education and public outreach. Our intent is to keep all animals in their homes, with their families, whenever possible. We are committed to rescuing those pocket pets that are in jeopardy of being euthanized or are in danger of being abused, left unattended or in other types of vulnerable situations. We ensure all animals receive proper veterinary care, medication and special training for any behavioral issues, as well as to arrange safe, temporary homes for these animals until stable forever homes can be found. Our team is made up of enthusiastic volunteers who work passionately to serve the underrepresented and often misunderstood niche of pocket pets in the overall rescue community and general public.
