Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
I found a new home! Plenty of my friends are looking for one too. Check out other pets at this shelter, or start a new search.

Meet Pepper!
Pepper is a 50 lb, 6 month doberman shepherd mix in need of a new home. Puppy Pepper has been raised around dogs, a cat, chickens, teenagers and school ages children.
She loves chewing on her toys, bully sticks and loves treats.
- She is crate trained and potty trained.
- She knows sit and come.
- She rides in the car well
- She enjoys her daily walks and doesn’t bark at people or dogs when on a walk.
- She loves having free rein to run (very fast) and will play tag with us (one person goes across the field and we call her and she comes running and jumping towards us). She does jump up when we get home, when she’s excited and/or feeling playful and will mouth on our hands or clothes.
- Pepper is a love. She will be a wonderful dog for a family or individual that enjoys taking walks/hikes, she’s smart and eager to learn and please. She’s fun and playful, gets along with children well and is sweet.
- Pepper can be timid meeting new people so would do best in a home that doesn't require her to meet or interact with too many guests or at a pace she's comfortable with
Does the dog get along with:: Dog-Friendly: Lives with two chihuahua mixes. She is shy and submissive with other dogs including ours. Can be very playful, loves to play chase and play with toys with other dogs.
How does the dog react to being left alone?: She does well being alone.
She has the sweetest and silliest personality once she is comfortable with a person. She’s very smart and trainable. Her ideal home will be with a person, couple or family in a calmer household/suburban environment. She would love a home with a yard, but not required
Interested in adopting?
1. Please complete our online form at heartsforpawsrescue.com/adoption-application
2. We will respond in 1-3 days for a call!
3. If it sounds like a potential match for you and the dog of interest, we will promptly set up a meet and greet at the foster home
Please note we are a foster-based rescue meaning our dogs are in individual foster homes throughout sac and the bay. For this reason we may only be able to schedule meets for one dog at a time (or litter). The average timeline between app submission and a meet and greet is 3-5 days. Please only submit an application for a specific dog if you are ready to adopt that animal within a week's time.
