My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Piper spent several months in the city pound. Prior to that she was allowed to run. We currently have her in foster care and are teaching her to walk on a leash and working on some old bad puppy habits such as mouthing as her way of communication. She gets along with other dogs. We don’t know about cats. She’d probably not do well with small children because of her size and the puppy mouthing until she has been trained enough or reached a mature age. She’s still young so there is time. We think that someone played too rough with her and allowed her to use her mouth and also could have been abused at the same time. It will be important for her to see a trainer to continue to address these mentioned problems if still needed but she is totally worth any time spent with her. She loves to give kisses. However, her own home, walks, petting, being part of a family will likely speed up the process. It’s amazing how dogs will change after they know they are finally home and loved.

Go meet their pets

During the pandemic, online is how we must present our pets. You can request more photos and a meet and greet if we have a volunteer to transport. Normally we would be having our adoption events at PetCo or PetSmart.

More about this rescue

Piedmont Pound Paws (PPP) began as a group of volunteers working together to find loving/responsible adopters or licensed rescues for animals that were unfortunate enough to find themselves in the city of Piedmont, MO kill pound. Over time, homeless pets in extended areas, often including the MO counties of Wayne, Reynolds, Iron, Butler, Carter, & Bollinger, were also helped. Today, this continues while educating the community and helping to find resources for low income families to responsibly care for their pets.
