My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Speedy is a 2 y/o boy who was found stray and was taken to an area shelter. Speedy has a small compact body with a beautiful blue-tick coat. As his name implies, this 18-pound dynamo is fast!

Speedy has good house manners with the use of a dog door. As a recently neutered male who is sharing living space with other young males, there has been some marking, but that behavior is becoming rare with this boy.

His pack manners will need some work! He loves to play and will bay his head off if left out of a wrestling match! Speedy wants in on every game that is played. He loves wrestling and rarely lets it get out of hand. His next favorite game is king of the mountain. They all love it when a fresh load of mulch is delivered! Speedy also loves to play chase as long as he is not the one being chased!

Speedy can be convinced in the evening to take life easy and will snuggle up next to his human for some loving. Speedy does not mind sharing pets with other beagles. He is just happy to be getting some of the attention! Speedy will do well with an active family who has a canine buddy for him to play with. Kids would be a bonus as he is good around little people. Apply today to make this guy a part of your family!

Additional adoption info

The first step in our adoption process is for interested parties to complete the on-line adoption application found on our website. We require an adoption fee ($300 for purebred beagles and coon hounds; $250 for mixes; $200 for special needs or seniors 8 years +; and $350 for pups age 8 mo. or younger) and an adoption contract. ALL dogs will be vaccinated, microchipped and spayed/neutered before adoption!

Go meet their pets

Check our website at www.HoustonBeagleRescue.org for info. We typically have meet & greet events on the second Sunday of each month, from noon to 3:00 p.m. and will always bring several of the rescued beagles to that event, so look up the location of the month on our website, and come meet some adorable beagles! We also periodically hold special activities, and occasionally attend Houston-area adoption events which will be listed on our "events" section of our website. Our quarterly newsletter is published on our website at www.HoustonBeagleRescue.org
