For Adopt a Pet and the PEDIGREE® brand, October is all about finding homes for dogs in shelters. Adopt this month for a PEDIGREE® Wet Food Pouch and a chance to win a Homecoming-style photo shoot and shelter donation.
Milo is an easy going, cuddly, smiley and happy boy! He is truly so easy. He’s dog friendly, non-destructive, crate trained, great on leash, and potty trained. He is low to medium energy and just wants cuddles and stuffy toys to be fulfilled in life! He is quiet, playful, a great adventure and patio partner, and looks to his handler for directions easily, he is very well behaved! He does have some prey drive and wants to chase cats on walks, so we would need to cat test him if you have kitties! He has also not had the opportunity to meet children, so we would like a meet and greet if you have kids and or a dog, but due to his calm and gentle nature, we think he could be a great fit with either!
Milo came to the shelter in very bad shape as a stray: emaciated, flea ridden, and unfortunately heart worm positive. Milo will need a patient and loving adoptive family to help him get through heartworm treatment, which is highly effective and financially covered by Emancipet! This requires a calm environment in order to keep his heart rate controlled and a monthly trip or two for 4 months to get shots to rid him of his heartworms.
If you have room in your life for your new best friend and the goodest boy, please reach out to meet him today!!!

Our shelter has more than 500 available cats and dogs every day! For pets at the shelter: Adoptions must be completed in-person at the shelter. AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites. For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.
Adoption Fees:
$80 cats & kittens up to 6 years old
$80 dogs 6 months to 6 years, 30 lbs and up
$100 dogs under 30 lbs and/or under 6 months
$30 small animals
No fee for senior pets 7 years and older
