My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I need a foster by June 29.
Please email fostersupport@thebondbetween.org if you can help!

Hi! I'm Poppy! I'm from Arkansas.
Meet Poppy! She is a happy, playful puppy who gets along well with everyone she meets. Poppy can't wait to find a foster or forever family who will play with her!

From her temp foster; 'm an energetic, happy, playful, and smart Southern girl who gets along well with people and dogs who are not aggressive, which is all I know with my foster family so far. I do understand boundaries, but still don't know my own strength in play.

I love spending most of time outdoors, rain or shine! I love exploring the yard! I bark at squirrels, and other things mostly only when I'm outside. When I have the zoomies, it's time to play chase...I'll also play fetch and bring back the toy without prompting, but that gets boring quick. I'd rather chew the frisbee after we play.

My favorite things are playing and wrestling with my foster family's dog, giving and receiving affection (licking, belly, chest and head rubs and cuddling), chewing, chewing, and did I mention chewing? I am a puppy and prefer shoes that smell like my favorite people. Teehee!

I'm strong willed when it comes to my body being handled. It's a trust thing and I may only cooperate with taking medicine or having my ears looked at..yet., etc. unless, I rarely go willingly into a kennel but won't fuss if I have something good to chew on! very affectionate--I love belly rubs or heck any rubs! My favorite place to lay is where I can be in a pup / people pile!

I will need a surgery for a internally leaky salivary gland. I am not to be put on a slip lead leash until that is fully resolved. This has prevented me from going beyond the yard with a double leash, per foster dog protection. I really don't know what a leash is yet.

As with puppies, I do sleep a lot, and sleep great outside in the shade: on the deck, or in the midst of the garden plants (and do my #2 business in the mulch is my favorite place to go! I can be skittish with loud noises and fast movements. I'll bark at anything that I don't understand or that scares me. I am nervous around men (deep voices scare me right now), but I warm up of you know how to connect with me.

Please consider meeting me and fall in love.

Go meet their pets

The Bond Between's goal is to not keep any animals at our rescue office. The majority of our animals are living in foster homes until they are adopted. Occasionally, animals are living in our rescue office that are in need of a foster home.

If you would like to meet an animal at our office who needs a foster, please reach out to inofficeanimals@thebondbetween.org and fill out our foster interest form at https://www.thebondbetween.org/foster

More about this rescue

The Bond Between is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that focuses on the bond between humans and animals. We were founded in 2009 as Secondhand Hounds. Since then, we have rescued over 29,000 dogs and cats with the help of thousands of fosters, volunteers, and supporters in our community. Our organization has grown from a rescue to a first-in-its-class animal wellbeing organization... now The Bond Between! We continue to provide safe shelter, proper veterinary care, and daily necessities for animals while working hard to help them build a bond with humans. We also focus on supporting the bonds that already exist between people and pets with our pet food shelf, respite foster care program, and focus on social services.

We wake up every morning saying YES to connecting people and animals, caring for them, and helping them fill each other’s hearts.

You can help support us today by donating, fostering, volunteering, or sharing The Bond Between.
