Meet the new & improved BEANS! You can almost hear Beans singing, "I've been everywhere man!" as you look at all of the places he's been and things that he's done during his lengthy stay with us. Beans has done so much since his arrival as a stray so long ago simply due to the fact that he truly needed help.....help, and training. Thanks to dedicated staff and volunteers, he sure got it! Beans has had professional training, he now knows how to behave perfectly, and he's looking for a family that will keep Beans being his very best self! Beans is awesome, simply put. He's housebroken, he loves car rides, swimming, meeting new friends, and running and playing. He knows a wide variety of commands including: sit, down, place, stay, and lots more! Beans is loving, affectionate, and super smart. He listens well, and he bonds intently with his friends. Beans needs a cat-free home, but he's good with other dogs. He's just 3 years old and he has a lifetime ahead of him that he'd love to spend being your most loving and loyal best friend! Come meet Beans....we know you'll love him! We require a completed adoption application which can be obtained at our facility, or from our website: www.ahscares.org. We also require proof of home ownership if you own, or a copy of a lease stating that pets are allowed with no restrictions if you rent. We require vet records for any pets owned in the last five years as well. Our adoption fees vary based on age, breed, etc. Please call our facility for exact fee 609-693-1900.

As a community-based organization, we provide low-cost veterinary care and humane education to promote responsible pet guardianship throughout New Jersey.
For over a century we have offered a haven to abused and neglected animals. Founded in 1906, AHS is the largest animal sheltering system in New Jersey, operating three shelters located in Newark, Forked River, and Tinton Falls. Our Forked River facility also includes Popcorn Park. Established in 1977, Popcorn Park is a sanctuary for abandoned, injured, ill, exploited, abused or elderly wildlife, exotic and farm animals, and birds.
