My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

ATDR 3791

Dixie was picked up as a stray after recently having puppies and found herself in a coastal Texas shelter. This girl has obviously known hard times and when contacted, ATDR quickly retrieved and placed her in a comfortable foster home where she's safe, warm, dry and doesn't have to worry where her next meal will come from.

Dixie is a dilute red dachshund mix, that is gentle and sweet and was probably a very good Mom to her recent litter of pups.  Sadly no pups were found, but this sweet girl is lapping up the love and attention she is getting in her foster home.  Sadly, she tested positive for heartworms and was treated right away.  She was recently spayed and is recuperating in her foster home!
Dixie is sweet and loving with her humans and tolerant of her smaller doxie buddies.  She would love a home to call her own, one with a yard and perhaps another dog friend.  She is housetrained and uses the doggie door.

Say a prayer for our girl that there will be no complications and we will keep you posted on her progress!

More about this rescue

All Texas Dachshund Rescue, Inc., is made up of a group of volunteers whose primary goal is to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home disabled and otherwise endangered Dachshunds who have found themselves homeless for one reason or another. It is our policy that no dogs will be adopted out without first being spayed or neutered, have had all vaccines updated, are heartworm negative, are on heartworm preventative, and have had all other health issues we consider important to the pet’s life addressed that we are able.

All incoming Dachshunds will be placed in temporary foster homes, where they will be evaluated while living indoors with the foster families in a safe and nurturing home environment, until such time as they are ready to be placed in a loving, adoptive, forever home.

A 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
