Take the Pet Home
If you have been to any of our monthly Meet & Greets at A1 Pet Emporium recently, you may have met Patches, our calico greeter, who is a big hit there because she lays in her carrier on the table where she can get loads of attention from everyone. Patches originally came to PAWS in 2011 as a kitten with two littermates. She was adopted, then due to a divorce, was returned to us in 2018. She loves attention, especially head scratches and really likes being brushed. She is not very fond of having her nails clipped unless you have help and experience with that procedure. Her nails are very thick and she is too lazy to use a scratching post to pull the old nails off. Most of the time she likes to spend in her bed getting her beauty sleep. She also insists on a clean litter box!
At that time of her return she was diagnosed with an immune system issue that manifests itself in her nailbeds and foot pads. After multiple attempts to bring this issue under control we finally came up with a combination that keeps her mostly symptom free by administering one OTC Lysine 1000Mg tablet, crushed and mixed in with her canned food each morning.
PAWS-OK is a small foster based non profit rescue operating in the OKC area since 2008. All our cats and kittens are spayed or neutered, tested for feline leukemia and FIV, up-to-date on their vaccines, litterbox trained and fostered in a volunteers home. We are committed to placing our rescues in the most loving homes that we can, regardless of how long it takes. Our kittens are kept with their mothers for as long as possible and not offered for adoption until they are at least 16 weeks of age. A handful of our available felines can be seen in the PetSmart Adoption Center in Rockwell Plaza (8357 N Rockwell) during normal store hours.
If you are interested in adopting a new cat from PAWS-OK for your family, please go to our Adoption Request form at https://form.jotform.com/pawsokrescue/adoption-request-form. Your Request will be processed by a PAWS Volunteer who may reach out to you via email to clarify your information if needed. Processing normally takes 2-3 business days. If your request is approved, an Adoption Counselor will contact you to set up a phone interview or a time to meet with them at our Adoption Center. If we cannot help you, we may redirect you to other sources for a cat that may better fit your situation.
Thank you for looking at our available cats and kittens. If you have any questions, please reach out for us at pawsokrescue@gmail.com.
