My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Joe and his sister Jolene were living under an abandoned camper slightly off a rural highway in an area marked "no trespassing" and considered unsafe. An elderly man saw them there and started leaving food. After a few weeks he posted on social media he could not continue to feed them. Without rescue the puppies would likely starve, die from infection, get hit on the highway or be killed by other animals.

Both puppies had developed skin conditions from fleas, unsanitary living conditions and poor nutrition.'

After proper vetting, medicated baths, a high quality diet and lots of TLC these precious  siblings are are thriving!

Joe is sweet as can be, affectionate, happy and very smart. He loves to run and play.

This boy is very handsome! His coat is a striking shiny black. His skin has healed and his fur is thick and beautiful.

Joe is up to date on vaccines and will be microchipped and neutered when age appropriate.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Adoption is a four part process.

Application: You will be required to submit general information along with personal and vet references.

Home visit: Potential adopters will receive a home visit by one of our members.

Meet -n- Greet: All family members (fur babies included) must meet the foster parent and pup they wish to adopt.

Here at Dirt Road Doggies Rescue, each adoption contribution is a flat rate per dog. We do not adjust this rate based on the "popularity" of a dog. We believe every dog is worthy of an owner that sees the value in them. Each adoption contribution is used to cover the expenses incurred for that dog and other dogs in our program.

Go meet their pets

Dirt Road Doggies Rescue, INC is located in the quaint town of Gillsville, in the foothills of the Georgia Mountains, just south of Gainesville. Our rescues are fostered in loving homes located in Hall, Jackson, and neighboring counties.

More about this rescue

We are a small canine rescue group located in Northeast Georgia that works tirelessly to rescue, rehabilitate, fully vet, and re-home faithful dogs that have been tossed out of cars onto rural roads. We are a registered, 501c3 tax deductible Non Profit Rescue and we are licensed by the Georgia Department of Agriculture

All dogs in our program have been previously reported to animal control to ensure they were not lost pups who had a family diligently looking for them. We do not turn a dog away due to breed, health concerns, or age. It is our goal to keep these dogs out of animal shelters, thus saving their lives and providing more time to the dogs already in shelters to find their forever family.
