Birdie's journey began in the midst of a snowstorm, where she was found with her three precious puppies. Now, with her pups happily adopted, it's mama Birdie's time to find her forever home. She's blossomed into a Memphis party girl, exuding Big Puppy Energy despite being 2 years old.
Birdie is a playful soul, always eager to engage in rough-and-tumble sessions with her doggy pals. While she needs a bit of work on basic manners, her loving nature shines through. She may jump when excited and can be a tad self-willed, but with patience and guidance, she's very quick to learn.
While she loves to play with the big kids, her current bestie is a Pomeranian who tries really hard to keep up in Tug-O-War (although, it often becomes more "Tug-O-Pomeranian" because of the size difference, much to the delight of both dogs!!).
This sunshine-loving sweetheart takes a little time to warm up to strangers. However, once she feels comfortable, she's a loyal companion. She's not averse to a bit of dominance initially. but responds well to correction.
Birdie has lived with children as well. Because of her size and her play drive, we recommend homes with dog savvy children over 7.
In her current foster home, Birdie thrives in the company of other dogs, feeding off their energy whether it's joining in playful barking or finding a cozy spot for a nap. If the resident dogs are howling, she's right there in the chorus, but if they are more subdued, she is as well.
Birdie is crate-trained, and she hasn't had a potty accident indoors.
This girl's favorite pastimes include rolling around in the grass or on the sofa, chewing on bones and sticks, and engaging in spirited games. She walks decently on the leash and enjoys car rides.
This clever girl is highly food motivated and eager to please. While she might be tempted to explore the countertops, she's a quick learner and is sure to master her manners with a little guidance.
Birdie is so incredibly smart and picks up on new things swiftly.
Above all else, Birdie is a sweet, loving companion who longs for a forever family to bask in the sun with and share life's adventures. If you're seeking a loyal and affectionate friend, Birdie is the one for you!

More about this rescue
PAWS is comprised of a small group of volunteers from New England and Tennessee trying to reduce the euthanization rate (previously 90%) at the Tipton County Animal Control shelter in Brighton, Tennessee. This shelter is forced to euthanize thousands of animals each year due to irresponsible pet owners that do not spay/ neuter their dogs in the area. Millions of dogs in America are euthanized each year due to lack of space and lack of funding to try and find them better homes.
Our mission is to save as many animals as possible, removing them from the shelter, having their veterinary needs met prior to traveling and then finding them loving homes throughout New England. We do this only with the assistance of many people volunteering their time by going to the shelter, transporting the dogs to the vet, fostering dogs who need special care, and arranging for their new and happy homes in this area. Most importantly, we cannot do any of this without those people willing to open their homes and hearts to these lovely creatures.
