My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Our adoption process can be found on our website here: www.mnpocketpetrescue.org/process

Estimated birth date: 12/22/23

Personality: Curious, Friendly toward humans, Hesitant, Inquisitive, Nervous, Quiet, Readily allows you to pick it up, Sweet

Favorite treats: Yogurt drops, baby puffs, cheerios, yogurt, baby food squeezers, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds

Current Diet: Oxbow Essentials Adult Rat Food.

Favorite toys and activities: Digging boxes, climbing, she loves a single hard boiled egg to roll around and try to figure out!

Potty trained: No - Shania isn't potty trained. She only uses the litter box when she wants to.

This animal’s daily routine: We have free roam time during the evening. We'll place a ramp at the bottom of the critter nation so she can come out and play at her leisure.

BFF (Does this animal have or need a friend of the same species in their home?): Roxanne, Rhiannon, and Shania are a bonded trio and must be adopted together.

Other species this pet has been exposed to and reaction: Dogs and cats. She doesn't seem to mind either

Has this animal been exposed to children? What was their reaction? Shania and her foster's 12-year-old have had extensive time together. Shania doesn't mind at all, but they are also very considerate of how they pick her up.

Health concerns: None

Behavioral concerns: None

Other Notes: Shania is so inquisitive! She's a little shy to climb up on your arm, but she's always at the forefront of her cage checking out the room. She loves little scratches on her head and doesn't mind being picked up and looking at things from the vantage point of a shoulder. With time and love, I think she'll get comfortable actively crawling on an outstretched hand.

Roxanne & Rhiannon were born in rescue shortly after their mothers arrived. Shania came to MNPPR to find a cage mate. Her previous one passed away and her surrenderers where unable to take in another rat.

Due to our rescue being foster-based, not all foster homes are located in Saint Paul, MN. This animal's foster parent prefers to meet at the Highland Park PetSmart in St. Paul (2277 Ford Pkwy, St. Paul, MN 55116). for meet & greets, & adoptions.

Fee: Roxanne, Rhiannon, & Shania have a combined adoption fee of $50

We absolutely DO NOT SHIP ANIMALS! Please do not ask.

Shania's care while in rescue has not yet been sponsored. If you would like to donate to provide veterinary care, food, bedding, and enrichment for Shania or other pocket pets in the care of MNPPR, please visit https://www.mnpocketpetrescue.org/sponsor-a-pocket-pet for more information.
