My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

~~Although we do our very best to make sure your new pup is in tiptop health before adoption, things could drastically change a month later.  Since we don’t have a long health history of your adopted dog, we can only treat the pet for whatever symptoms present during the initial exam and follow up exams.~

Health: Keeper had FHO surgery on his rear left leg. This causes him to not use that leg as much. He is not in pain and will use it some just not all the time. He has hypothyroidism which requires meds twice a day. ***** No obvious health issues found during vet exam *****
Temperament: Keeper is absolutely a keeper!!! This boy has stolen my heart and will absolutely steal yours. He is one of the best dogs I have ever fostered. Keeper probably wont be able to go on long walks but I'm sure he would go on a very short one and then love to ride in a stroller. He LOVES toys!!! Keeper is the cutest dog when he's playing or carrying toys around. Because of Keeper's leg surgery he can be pretty wobbly. He will get knocked over easily. He does have a harder time standing up on wood or slick floors. He would do best with rugs or carpet down. If you give Keeper the chance he will make you smile and laugh. He doesn't play with other dogs or anything. He is supposedly 12 years old but with how much he loves toys I'm not sure that's accurate but it's what the shelter aged him at. He loves to sit by you on the couch but you will need to make sure to put him on the floor if you get up. He can't jump up or down on his own. --

Where did he come from: He was adopted from DAS and then surrendered back when he kept hiding from them. (side note: he has never once hid from us! He's perfect!!!)

 Adoption: ***** $400.00 ***** Weight: 8.3 lbs. Approximate age: 3/5/2010

Additional adoption info

Please allow up to 72 hours for a response.

Adopting one of our dogs requires that you fill out an adoption application, have your references checked, and let us visit your home.

The required minimum adoption donation is $250. That amount covers the spay/neuter, annual vaccinations, heartworm testing, and one month of heart worm preventative.

We spend about $300.00 just to treat the pommies that are heartworm positive. We have invested more than $1000.00 in several of our pommies--treating them and kenneling them. Kenneling cost $16 a day per dog. We need foster homes!
