My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Our adoption process can be found on our website here: www.mnpocketpetrescue.org/process

Estimated birth date: 4/1/20

Personality: Brave, Cuddly, Curious, Dignified, Friendly toward humans, Friendly toward other animals, Funny, Inquisitive, Lazy, Loyal, Mouthy (puts mouth on you but does not bite down, usually thinking your fingers are food), Quiet, Smart, Sweet

Favorite treats: Blueberries, Strawberry, baked hay treats.

Current Diet: Oxbow Essentials Adult Guinea Pig Food, Fruit, Veggies, Leafy Greens, Western Timothy & Orchard Mix, Western Timothy Hay.

Favorite toys and activities: Hay chews/toys, applewood sticks sometimes.

Potty trained: No

This animal’s daily routine: Fresh water & hay in the morning. Fresh greens are usually given early or later in the day to switch it up. Pellets and more hay/water is given around 8pm along with any treats and enrichment for the night. We spot clean whenever possible because 4 piggies make a lot of mess!

BFF (Does this animal have or need a friend of the same species in their home?): Diana Ross, Florence Ballard, Mary Wilson, & Betty McGlown are a bonded quartet and must be adopted together.

Other species this pet has been exposed to and reaction: Cat - shy but curious

Has this animal been exposed to children? What was their reaction? Yes - Will run away if they try to pet her but is curious from afar.

Health concerns: Mary, Florence, Betty - Florence, Mary, & Betty have all recovered from bumblefoot, however, their cage mate Diana is currently being treated for a history of extreme bumblefoot which had resulted in a deep tissue and bone infection. After intensive medical treatments including daily foot soaks, topical medications, and several oral medications Diana now only needs oral medications that provide pain relief which she will likely require for the remainder of her life. Luckily Diana takes these very willingly since they taste good!

Behavioral concerns: None.

Other notes: Miss Mary's favorite spot is right in the litter box - all the time! She like lounging and staying outside the hides so we try to spot clean the box often to keep it dry. I often find her deep asleep in the hay nest she's made in their box. Mary will eat almost anything we give her, including leafy greens and fruits. She's the largest of the 4 and feels like she's the "lookout" in her group. Her feet are a little puffy from the bumblefoot she had when first arriving to us, but she's all healed and such a sweetie!

Diana Ross, Florence Ballard, Mary Wilson, & Betty McGlown came to MNPPR when their previous owner was no longer able to keep up with their care.

Due to our rescue being foster-based, not all foster homes are located in Saint Paul, MN. This animal's foster parent prefers to meet at the Eagan PetSmart - 1297 Promenade Pl, Eagan, MN 55121 for meet & greets, & adoptions.

Fee: Diana Ross, Florence Ballard, Mary Wilson, & Betty McGlown have a combined adoption fee of $110

We absolutely DO NOT SHIP ANIMALS! Please do not ask.

Mary's care while in rescue has not yet been sponsored. If you would like to donate to provide veterinary care, food, bedding, and enrichment for Mary or other pocket pets in the care of MNPPR, please visit https://www.mnpocketpetrescue.org/sponsor-a-pocket-pet for more information.

More about this rescue

MN Pocket Pet Rescue is a 501(c)(3) organization primarily serving the Twin Cities Metro Area, focusing on education and public outreach. Our intent is to keep all animals in their homes, with their families, whenever possible. We are committed to rescuing those pocket pets that are in jeopardy of being euthanized or are in danger of being abused, left unattended or in other types of vulnerable situations. We ensure all animals receive proper veterinary care, medication and special training for any behavioral issues, as well as to arrange safe, temporary homes for these animals until stable forever homes can be found. Our team is made up of enthusiastic volunteers who work passionately to serve the underrepresented and often misunderstood niche of pocket pets in the overall rescue community and general public.
