11/13/10 - Maya is heartworm negative and was given a clean bill of health, so she is now ready for her new home. She is a very happy, sweet and loyal girl and loves to cuddle next to you on the couch. Also, Maya has been doing great with her housebreaking. She has been going outside with no accidents in the house since she was set free from the crate two weeks ago.

7/30/10 – I AM HEARTWORM POSITIVE! My name is Maya and I was wandering the streets of Mississippi with Hannah when we were picked up and brought to the shelter. We were covered in fleas and not feeling well. The wonderful people at the shelter cleaned us up and helped our sores from the fleas heal with nice soothing baths. Because my previous owner did not take care of me and neglected to give me heartworm medicine, I am now heartworm positive. I am in stage two and have a long road ahead of me with the treatment I need. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers as the medicine and my body work to get rid of these nasty worms.
