My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

~~Although we do our very best to make sure your new pup is in tiptop health before adoption, things could drastically change a month later.  Since we don’t have a long health history of your adopted dog, we can only treat the pet for whatever symptoms present during the initial exam and follow up exams.~

Health: She takes levothyroxine and Furosemide twice daily, along with Benazapril once daily. She was diagnosed with congestive heart failure (CHF) a few months ago and is also on thyroid medication. ***** No obvious health issues found during vet exam *****

Temperament: Meet Katie, an adorable and well-behaved eight-year-old girl who adores spending time with her favorite person. Whether she's out for a walk, relaxing on the sofa, or patiently waiting by the shower, Katie is always by your side. She absolutely loves car rides and belly rubs, and her tail wags with joy at the thought of either.

When Katie first arrived at the rescue, she was in a terrible state due to severe neglect. Battling yeast and staph infections, she had lost most of her fur, and it was feared that it might never grow back. However, with proper care and love, Katie now boasts a beautiful coat and a fluffy tail. While there are small patches on either side of her spine where the hair didn't fully return, they are concealed by her luxurious fur.

Although Katie may have some minor hearing loss from her previous health issues, she doesn't let that stop her from eagerly anticipating walks and snack time. This sweet girl would thrive as the only pet in a loving home. While she currently lives with cats and other dogs, she generally gets along with them, though she can get a bit protective of treats. Simply giving Katie her treat first ensures everyone gets along harmoniously.

In conclusion, Katie is a resilient and affectionate companion who is ready to bring endless love and joy to her forever family. -

Where did she come from: Stray at the Shetler.

Additional adoption info

Please allow up to 72 hours for a response.

Adopting one of our dogs requires that you fill out an adoption application, have your references checked, and let us visit your home.

The required minimum adoption donation is $250. That amount covers the spay/neuter, annual vaccinations, heartworm testing, and one month of heart worm preventative.

We spend about $300.00 just to treat the pommies that are heartworm positive. We have invested more than $1000.00 in several of our pommies--treating them and kenneling them. Kenneling cost $16 a day per dog. We need foster homes!
