My basic info
Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Our adoption process can be found on our website here: www.mnpocketpetrescue.org/process
Hello, I'm Sweet Home Alabama! I'm a sprightly, slightly bashful, and a tad goofy rat. I'm the proud mama of 11 adorable little ones who are not so little anymore. I'm also great pals with Sweet Caroline, we love to play hide and seek. I can be a little shy at first, but once I get to know you, I'm all fun and games. I may be small, but my heart is big and full of love to give. Adopting me means gaining a tiny friend with a huge personality, who will keep you entertained with my goofy antics and love you unconditionally.

This animal’s daily routine: Sweet Home Alabama's foster scatter feed the rats twice a day so they can forage for their food, and in the evenings they free roam before dinner is put in the cage to coax them all back inside
BFF (Does this animal have or need a friend of the same species in their home?): Sweet Home Alabama & Sweet Caroline (Bum Bum Bum) are a bonded pair and must be adopted together.
Other species this pet has been exposed to and reaction: Dog-nervous
Has this animal been exposed to children? What was their reaction? None
Health concerns: Ongoing mild respiratory issues. Mostly sneezing, but her previous foster had her on antibiotics at two different points for upper respiratory infections.
Behavioral concerns: Sweet Home Alabama is in our trust training program due to being nervous and unsure of people. Learn more about our trust training methods at https://www.mnpocketpetrescue.org/trust-training
Update 8/26: Right now Alabama takes treats from a hand nicely but shies away or gets mouthy after a tiny bit of petting.
Other notes: She is shy around her foster/people, but not around other rats! Sweet Home Alabama and her sister would be great additions to an established group. They were both reintroduced to my other foster rat groups, their babies who had been weaned over a month prior, and are very playful and love chasing and snuggling.
Sweet Home Alabama & Sweet Caroline (Bum Bum Bum) came to MNPPR when their previous owner was no longer able to keep up with care.
Due to our rescue being foster-based, not all foster homes are located in Saint Paul, MN. This animal's foster parent prefers to meet at the Maple Grove PetSmart - 11200 Fountains Dr, Maple Grove, MN 55369 for meet & greets, & adoptions.
Fee: Sweet Home Alabama & Sweet Caroline (Bum Bum Bum) have a combined adoption fee of $35
We absolutely DO NOT SHIP ANIMALS! Please do not ask.
