My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there! My name is Chance, and I'm an 8-year-old Shepherd with a lot of love to give. My previous owner passed away, and now I'm on the lookout for a new forever home. Let me tell you a bit about myself so you can see if we're a good fit.

I'm a playful guy and very much a typical Shepherd. I've lived with another dog before, and we got along just fine. However, I'm not a fan of cats, and cannot live in a home with them. I haven't had the best experience with small kids, so a home without young children would be ideal for me. I'm quite territorial and protective of my space and my people, like any really loyal dog!

When it comes to strangers, I haven't had much exposure, so I might need some time to warm up to new faces. With patience and positive reinforcement, I believe I can learn to be more comfortable around new people.

One thing I absolutely love is attention! Ear scratches and head rubs are my favorites, and I enjoy being talked to - it makes me feel special and loved. I'm also a big fan of car rides; there's something about the wind in my fur that I just can't get enough of.

When we're out on a walk, I do tend to pull on the leash at first because I'm so excited to explore. But don't worry, I do slow down as we go along.. I also have a bit of a prey drive, so I might try to chase squirrels and waterfowl - just a heads-up!

I'm looking for a home with someone who understands Shepherds and can provide the structure and guidance I need. With the right person, I know I can be a loyal and loving companion. If you think we could be a good match, I'd love to meet you and see if we can make each other happy. Let's give it a chance!
