Hermes has the biggest, happiest smile! Wouldn't you love to have him greet you with that big grin every time you came home? Keep reading, because we've got our paws crossed he'll be just the dog you've been looking for.
We don't know much about his past, but we do know he's housetrained, walks nicely on a leash, already knows how to sit and lie down when asked, and is working on Stay. He's very (very, very) treat motivated, which will both be to your advantage when you teach him the rest of the basics but is also one of the things he needs to work on. He can become so focused on the treat that he forgets you're asking him to do something, so your counselor will teach you strategies for keeping him focused on you.
Hermes is a very social guy and also a very energetic one, so we think he'd do best in a home where any children are at least twelve years old, and we'd like to introduce him to the whole family in the course of several meetings here at the shelter. We'd also like to introduce him here to any dogs who are already part of your household, because we don't know how he feels about his fellow canines. Are you a cat family? Your counselor can give you tips on handling low-stress at-home intros to foster interspecies happiness.
Are you ready to say hello to Hermes? We'd love to see you here at the shelter to meet him and our other available dogs. You just might find your next best friend waiting right here and hoping to meet you.

More about this shelter
Mission:
Lollypop Farm, the Humane Society of Greater Rochester, works together with our community better the lives of animals through justice, prevention, and life-saving care.
Vision: A just and compassionate world for all animals.
Lollypop Farm is not your typical animal welfare organization. We don’t classify ourselves as merely a shelter, simply taking in and rehoming pets. Rather, we are your partner. We’ll work with you to build a just and compassionate world for all animals–to save animals from abuse and suffering, to find a resource to keep your pet, to guide you in adopting a new pet, to make the tough decision to say goodbye to your family friend or to share information on how to help animals in your daily life.
