Here's what the humans have to say about me:
"Hi everyone. My name is Buffy and I’m told I’m a beautiful lemon roan English Cocker Spaniel. I’ve heard you don’t see too many of us around. I was doing my job pushing out puppies for my breeder but that life was just not for me. Who wants to be around yapping puppies all the time? So, My breeder finally saw the light and at only 5.5 years old a rescue lady from SOCKS came to pick me up. Wow! What a change! I was very scared of everything but this rescue lady took me to a dog doctor and told me I would never have to worry about having puppies ever again. You know I was really glad to hear that but I was still scared since everything was new to me. So, I have been spending the last few months trying to learn how to live in a home with people. This was really hard for me because I had not ever lived in a home or been treated like a member of a family so I decided it was easier for me to hide and just come out for food but the rescue people knew that wasn’t in my best interest. They told me that once I learned to be around people, I would decide I liked them because they give the best treats and tummy rubs and I would live in a house out of the weather. I didn’t know what all that was about at first but now that I do I’m thinking they were right. I have learned to let people pet me and brush me and I really, really love laying on the couch and have even snuggled with my foster mom. I have met lots of people who always tell me I am very beautiful and sweet and I’m slowly learning to trust them but I’m pretty sure I will. This is a cool gig if you know what I mean? And no puppies!"
Buffy will need a person who has the time and patience to allow her the time to learn to trust them. She will need a securely fenced yard. Buffy is okay with kids older than 8 and has been spayed, microchipped, HW tested and is up to date on her vaccinations. She is being fostered in Lake City Florida but is not opposed to traveling within the southeastern area. Buffy's adoption fee is $400.
*****Please apply to adopt her at https://www.saveourcockerspaniels.org/adoption-application.*****
SOCKS adopts to families in Florida, Georgia, Southern Alabama, and southeastern Mississippi. If you are out of the state of Florida, you would need to travel to Florida to complete your adoption. Please note that we do check vet references, and your current pets must be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing and be able to provide proof of purchase of HW prevention. All dogs and cats in your home must be spayed or neutered. We will not set up a meet and greet until your application has been received, reviewed, and approved. Adoptions are not done on a first come, first served basis. We will accept applications and then screen all and choose the best match. Only approved applicants will be contacted. Buffy's adoption fee is $400.
