My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

“Hi everyone! My name is Buffy. My story is not the most happy. A lady from SOCKS came to pick me up at the place I was living. I heard people say this was a breeder. All I know is I was very scared of everything, and I didn’t feel like I was loved. This lady took me to a dogtor and told me I would not have to worry about having puppies ever again. I was really glad to hear that because I did not like being a Mom and from what I have heard, that is why the breeder didn’t want me anymore. So, I have been spending the last few months trying to learn how to live in a home with people. This has been really hard for me because I had not ever lived in a home and have been treated like a member of the family. I decided it was easier for me to hide and just come out for food. I wanted to just dig a hole and stay away from people. But the people were not going to let me do that. They said that once I learned to be around people, I would decide I would like them. I wasn’t so sure about that but believe it or not, I think they are right! I have learned to let people pet me and brush me and it’s not so bad. I like laying on the couch and I even snuggled up to my foster Mom. I have met lots of people who always tell me how beautiful I am and how sweet I am. I just need to learn to trust these people more but I think I will in time.”
Buffy will need a person who has the time and the patience to allow her to learn to trust. She will need a securely fenced back yard and that is a requirement. Buffy would be okay with kids older than 8. She is 5 years old and a lemon roan English Cocker Spaniel. She has been spayed, microchipped, heartworm tested, and up to date on her vaccinations. She is being fostered in Lake City, Florida but is not opposed to traveling within the southeastern area.
SOCKS adopts to families in Florida, Georgia, Southern Alabama and southeastern Mississippi. If you are out of the state of Florida, you would need to travel to Florida to complete your adoption. Please note that we do check vet references and your current pets must be up to date on vaccinations and heartworm testing. Please be able to provide proof of purchase of heartworm prevention. All dogs and cats in your home must be spayed or neutered. We will not set up a meet and greet until your application has been received, reviewed, and approved. Adoptions are not done on a first come, first served basis. We will accept applications and then screen all and choose the best match. Only approved applicants will be contacted.
