My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Tuck is the best boy looking for the best family! He's incredibly intelligent and food-motivated which makes him a dream to train. He's got all the basics down: mat work, loose-leash walking, recall, sit, lay down, etc. He also has some experience with disc and tricks and has a great natural aptitude for a number of sports if that's your jam.

Tuck would be an incredible sport dog, but is also content being a family man and snuggling on the couch with his people. He's great at entertaining himself with toys and naps during the day while his humans work, so he's been an excellent work-from-home companion. He gets along with the resident dogs and cats and the kids he's met in his travels.

This boy also has the most adorable quirks. He likes to pick up his favorite toy of the day and prance around the house and yard with it, showing it off to the humans and other dogs to try to entice them to chase him and play tug of war. He also loves dropping his high value chew bones in the water bowl to make a fun little splash, then he fishes them out and races around the yard with them, stubby little tail wagging a mile a minute. Tuck is meant to be someone's heart dog with his sweet personality and desire for connection with his people. Could that be you?

Tuck is estimated to be 6.5 months old and 30 lbs. Since we don’t know the dog’s actual genetics, this is just a guess on breed and size when grown. All dogs have had a vet examination, are up to date on all vaccinations, have been given dewormer and heartworm prevention. Dogs over 7 months have been heartworm tested. If you are interested in meeting this dog please complete the adoption application on our website at http://www.safehandsrescue.org under Adopt and then we can contact you about setting up a meeting.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We only adopt out animals to homes within 60 miles of the Twin Cities. Our adoption process begins with the return of our pre-adoption form, available on our website. After reviewing your application a meeting is scheduled between you and the pup, sometimes in the fosters home or at a neutral dog friendly place. If any resident dogs are in your home, it is recommended that the pups meet at this time. After the meeting a home visit is scheduled and if everything goes well with the visit the adoption is finalized at that time. A home visit by one of Safe Hands representatives is REQUIRED prior to finalizing any adoption and we must meet all members of the household where the pup will be living sometime during the adoption process.

Go meet their pets

Come on out and meet all of our great adoptable pups!! On weekends we have meetings at random locations. See our events page on our website or social media.

More about this rescue

Safe Hands is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization dedicated to saving lives and finding forever homes for stray, abandoned and surrendered dogs in high kill shelters. Of great importance to us is to reduce the stray population and need for healthy animal euthanasia through spay/neuter programs, education, and promotion of respect for the furry creatures that share our lives.

We are a small, no-kill, volunteer run organization. All of our dogs listed are in foster homes waiting to be adopted and because of this, we get to know the dogs' personalities very well and use this information to match them to an appropriate home. We do not have a physical shelter.

This rescue is not funded by public funds nor does it receive many donations so it is dependent on adoption fees to keep operating. We have a great need for foster homes. If you are interested in providing foster care, and live within an hour of the Twin Cities, please e-mail us
Donations ALWAYS needed are: dog crates, puppy pee pads, natures miracle (for pet stain removal), Nutrisource brand puppy and dog food, Lysol disinfecting wipes, paper towels, large clean towels, dog toys, leashes, collars and gas cards to help with our transports.
