My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Athena, a true embodiment of her namesake - the goddess of wisdom. Athena is a canine Einstein, always eager to show off her intelligence. She`s quickly learned commands and tricks that would make any dog owner proud. But Athena isn`t just brains, she`s all heart too. She`s the friendliest dog you`ll ever meet, always ready with a wagging tail and a warm cuddle. Athena`s cuddles are legendary; they`re the perfect cure for a long, stressful day. She`s not just a pet, she`s a companion, a friend, a confidante. Athena is ready to bring joy, love, and intelligence into your home. Why should you adopt Athena? Because she`s not just a dog, she`s a family member waiting to happen. Athena is ready to love and be loved. Are you ready to meet Athena?

More about this shelter

We are an open admissions shelter, meaning we take in homeless animals regardless of age, breed, health, temperament or lack of space. On average, we take in about 5,500 stray, surrendered and abandoned animals per year including dogs, cats, small mammals, birds and reptiles. We provide adoption services to find safe, happy homes for these pets; and also provide low-cost vaccination and microchip clinics to help safeguard them against illness or being lost forever.
