My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

The lazy labby guy, Max, has his eyes set on the fine things in life. Love, cuddles, snuggles, and some more love! At about 5 years old he has hit that oh so perfect stage where dogs slow down, and enjoy being loved on, and loving on, a WHOLE lot more. Max weighs in at approximately 60 pounds, and while he may be a big boy, he's beyond gentle. Whether it's a short stroll through the park, or as he rests his head on your legs, giving out an almighty 'sighhhh' to let you know just how content he is. He's quite honestly that PERFECT dog. We believe Max will do amazingly in just about any home, as he's got such a calm, loving nature that makes him amazing around other dogs, big or small, and kids! His great behavior has led us to believe he is 100% house-broken, absolutely crate-trained, and 110% good boy. Max is the dog we go to when we just want to relax, give love, and snuggles with. That is unless he's romping the dog yard with the others, sniffing around, with his adorable tail sky high, wagging, and happy as can be. With Max's heart of gold, lower-medium energy, and great manners, we know he will really make anyone, a family, or a first-time dog owner very happy.

My adoption fee is only $210! This fee covers all of my vaccines, microchip, nex/heartguard, heartworm test, AND my spay/neuter!

Think I might be the perfect fit for your home? You can apply for me here https://animalwelfarefriends.org/adopt/application/ OR you can apply in person when you come visit me any day during business hours! You can even adopt me that same day once approved!!

Please Note: All adoptions are on a first-come first served basis with approved adoption applicants. We do not hold animals unless the adoption is out-of-state, and fees apply. The animal's welfare is our first and only priority, in doing so, they are moved from the shelter into their respective homes as quickly, & humanely as possible to remove the risk of undergoing extreme stress, immune system compromission, & behavioral concerns.

More about this shelter

We are a non-profit organization out of Monticello, IA specializing in the care for dogs and cats that need us. Our care does not stay local, as we take transports from all over the United States, and adopt all over as well!

Our mission's primary focus is to help reduce the homeless pet population by finding homes for spayed/neutered pets, and helping educate WHY this process is so important, and the proper way to care for pets!
