My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! I'm Jazzy! I'm from Arkansas!

Jazzy is an estimated 10 year old, 10 pound dachshund. She is an old, sweet gal who would love nothing more than to snuggle up next to her person! Jazzy is good with other dogs.

I am currently being treated for heartworm disease. Heartworm is not contagious so your resident pets are not at risk! The treatment for this is 3-4 months long and requires a minimum of 3 appointments and strict rest/restricted activity. My adoption can take place during treatment, while TBB manages the financial responsibility of my heartworm treatment at The Bond Between Vet Center. Any other medical care needed outside of the specific care covered in the contract disclaimer, would be the responsibility of my new family.

From the Vet:
Jazzy has been evaluated by our TBB Vet Center and will be starting her injection treatments on 7/15 and will repeat with 2 additional injections in August. She will not be able to change homes 1 week prior to an injection or until 2 weeks after an injection. This is to ensure that we are causing her as little stress during this time as possible. Her adopters will also need to make sure they are able to keep Jazzy's activity restricted until 30 days after her last injection. After treatment Jazzy will need a bilateral mammary chain excision, spay and dental surgeries. TBB will agree to cover the heartworm treatments, as well as the surgeries with 1 round of medications and a recheck as deemed necessary associated with those procedures. Our surgeon is hopeful that we can accomplish the spay and one side of the mammary chain removal as one surgery and the second side with the dental, but this may be dependent on how well Jazzy does while under anesthesia. At most this will be accomplished as 3 procedures to be completed at TBB Vet Center. Any medical care needed outside of this coverage would be the responsibility of Jazzy's new forever family.

Go meet their pets

The Bond Between's goal is to not keep any animals at our rescue office. The majority of our animals are living in foster homes until they are adopted. Occasionally, animals are living in our rescue office that are in need of a foster home.

If you would like to meet an animal at our office who needs a foster, please reach out to inofficeanimals@thebondbetween.org and fill out our foster interest form at https://www.thebondbetween.org/foster

For more information on fostering or adoptable animals, please visit https://www.thebondbetween.org.

More about this rescue

The Bond Between is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that focuses on the bond between humans and animals. We were founded in 2009 as Secondhand Hounds. Since then, we have rescued over 29,000 dogs and cats with the help of thousands of fosters, volunteers, and supporters in our community. Our organization has grown from a rescue to a first-in-its-class animal wellbeing organization... now The Bond Between! We continue to provide safe shelter, proper veterinary care, and daily necessities for animals while working hard to help them build a bond with humans. We also focus on supporting the bonds that already exist between people and pets with our pet food shelf, respite foster care program, and focus on social services.

We wake up every morning saying YES to connecting people and animals, caring for them, and helping them fill each other’s hearts.

You can help support us today by donating, fostering, volunteering, or sharing The Bond Between.
