Velvet has not had the easiest life. She was brought into Chicago Animal Care and Control as an emaciated stray, and with some sort of burn on her tail. Her flat and somewhat inverted feet are clear indications of over-confinement (they are known as "crate feet"). She was just a small puppy at the time, and we could tell she hasn't experienced much kindness from people in her life.
Despite all of this, she is the sweetest and most loving little lady. She adores everyone and will make you feel like the most special person on the planet.
Velvet has that "perma-puppy" look and we just love her size and her sweet teddy-bear face.
Due to the flooding at our shelter, Velvet (and all of the dogs) had to find temporary placement. Velvet lived at Doggie Days in Round Lake Beach for almost two months, where she got lots of human attention and playdates with her dog friends. We can't believe how good she is with the other dogs! She spent her days romping around with Great Danes, French Bulldogs, and everything in between. She's such a dog social girl.
Velvet had to move out of there and into our temporary boarding facility in Lincolnshire where she is now, looking for a foster or adopter. Though she is great playing with all sorts of dogs, we do think she may do best in a home as a solo dog.
Velvet is a SMART dog and picks up on training so quickly. We were impressed at how quickly she learned how to sit and go into a down. She is food motivated and just wants to please, she's a blast to train with.
Velvet is so deserving of a nice soft bed and her own human to curl up with. We hope you will ask about her today, and we are happy to arrange for you to meet her.
Velvet's adoption fee is $250. This animal is spayed, up to date on core vaccines, and Heartworm negative.
