Nutmeg is a fun and active kitten who is friendly with people and gentle animals. She loves to play with her sister, Curalalia, and chase around her toys and climb up her cat trees. She’s curious, and the first to greet new visitors at home. She also enjoys napping on her cat trees, in the windowsill, or most of all napping snuggled up next to her sister. She is an absolute cuddle bug when she sees someone with a cozy blanket on the couch or in bed. She’s been fostered with a labrador retriever, and sweetly follows her around throughout the day, and will snuggle and sleep next to her periodically. She’s a very smart and independent kitten. All of HALO's cats are available for adoptions have been spayed or neutered and up-to-date on their vaccinations.

All the animals are microchipped.

Dogs and cats receive a complete check by a veterinarian.

Go meet their pets

HALO's cats and kittens can be seen at Pet Food Express every Friday 4pm-7pm plus Saturday and Sunday 10am-1:30pm (except the third Saturday, we do not have an adoption event). Pet Food Express is located at 5829 Lone Tree Way B, Antioch, CA.

More about this rescue

H.A.L.O. is the East Contra Costa County Homeless Animals' Lifeline Organization, better known as H.A.L.O. We are a nonprofit, all volunteer, 501c(3) charitable organization who assists dogs, cats and their owners in Eastern Contra Costa County.
We rescue approximatly 500 animals a year, all by volunteers, all in our homes and in our hearts.
We are not a shelter,
We have grant funds for the spaying and neutering of East County ferals and food for them if needed.
We have a program called "Angel Ears" where certified dogs and their trainers go to the local libraries and the children read to the dogs. This has proven a very effective way to increase reading skills rapidly. We also take the dogs to senior facilities.
We are in need of volunteer in many capacities.
