My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hulk has gorgeous dark Brindled fur. His mom was a German Shepherd and Dad a black lab. Hulk is a character...he loves to toss around and bark at his metal food and water bowls. He also likes to bring his toys over to show us what he has or to play fetch. He loves attention and affection and is super sweet. He is also friendly to everyone and is good with most other dogs and kids, plus he is good with cats. Hulk had only been outside before he came here but is partially housetrained; he potties in his outside area and not in his room. Hulk is a happy pup, in need of a loving family. We charge a $150 adoption fee for shelter dogs, $200 for Paws in Prison trained dogs, and $75 for cats. To make application to adopt a pet you will need to go to our website schspets.org and complete an online application and someone will call you to discuss adoption process and to make an appointment to visit our shelter and cat cottage.

Our shelter is located at 17379 Highway 9 South in Mountain View, AR 72560. We are open M-Sat., from 2:00 to 5:00 and mornings by appointment only by calling 870-269-5200.

More about this shelter

The Stone County Humane Society is a 501(C)(3) private organization, not a government entity that was formed in 1999. We rescue dogs and cats and are a no-kill shelter but we are not an open take in facility. We are currently operating from our new shelter building recently completed in August 2016 and a cat cottage. Our organization is managed by a volunteer board of 10 individuals and a full-time paid employee shelter manager that handles the day to day operations, and three part-time paid employees that feed and care for the animals and keep the facility clean. Most of our daily operations are funded by proceeds from a Second Chance Shop in town and donations from individuals. We also provide low cost spay/neuter clinics to the people of our county with help from a local vet.
