Maggie is a 3-4 year old mix of Labrador retriever and plott hound. She weighs about 65 lbs, is spayed and UTD on shots and has perfectly sparkling clean teeth. She gets along well with other dogs and while is highly annoying to cats, she isn’t aggressive toward them. She is very friendly with people, least for nail trims, bathing, giving medication, removing stolen objects, etc. She knows some basic commands and walks OK on leash but can use more training. She is house-trained and previously used a dog door.
Her ideal home would have a person home much of the time, another friendly and playful dog and a securely fenced yard. Maggie has an excellent nose and would excel at scent work, barn hunt or search and rescue. She’s also a huge water lover! Maggie does express signs of separation anxiety and should be crated when not under supervision. Hopefully this behavior passes when she feels comfortable and safe in her new home. Her owner passed away unexpectedly, and she is currently staying with family, but it’s not a long term solution. She will be adopted out with all her supplies including a large, secure crate.
Please contact her foster mom, Lindsey, at 315-396-2837 for additional information or to meet Maggie!
All Mountain Pet Rescue (Asheville) animals are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped before adoption. Contact the foster parent or Mountain Pet Rescue at pets@mpravl.org for more information.
Please note that visual breed identification of companion animals has been proven to be unreliable, so for most of our animals we provide a best guess at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our animals as an individual and do our best to describe and place pets based on personality not breed label.
Mountain Pet Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit tax deductible charity (EIN 82-3039637) located in Asheville, NC.
