My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hank is a happy kitty that enjoys the company of all – staff, volunteers, visitors, and the other cats! He adjusts quickly to new situations and makes himself at home immediately! He loves lap time with volunteers and staff and looks forward to light brushing and petting. If you are looking for a handsome, happy, well-adjusted kitty, look no more. Hank is the one for you!

Hank has Feline leukemia (FeLv) -- a disease that only affects cats -- it cannot be transmitted to people, dogs, or other animals. FeLV is passed from one cat to another through saliva, blood, and to some extent, urine and feces. There is presently no cure for FeLV infection. Secondary infections can be treated as they appear. Being the good-natured kitty Hank is, he takes his medications easily when needed.

More about this rescue

The Animal Refuge Center (ARC) of Fort Myers is a not for profit animal welfare society dedicated to stopping the escalating cost to impound, care for, kill and dispose of dogs and cats dying for no reason other than having been born. ARC is helping to cut the large numbers of homeless animals which eventually cuts the costs to taxpayers, which to date has reached over half a million dollars a year.

ARC is a non-euthanasia organization. Once we accept an animal for adoption, IT WILL NOT BE DESTROYED TO MAKE ROOM FOR ANOTHER. We are here to help the unwanted and neglected animals who now face certain death.
