My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! My name is Sarge (The Duke)
PLEASE READ SARGE FULL STORY

As you can see, I have had a bit of a hard time recently. I apparently used to have a home in that when I was found, I was heart worm negative & otherwise did not have any infections. I am also house trained (a real bonus). At some point in my life, something went horribly wrong & I ended up on the streets. When I was brought into the pound, I was terribly skinny from lack of food & limping badly. It was “stated” that I had possibly been hit by a car but luckily I did not have any broken bones upon closer inspection so we are completely sure about that. I was in such bad shape from not having any food to eat that the people at the pound thought that I was a senior citizen (I am only about 5 years old so this was insulting). The wonderful people at English Bulldog Rescue Network came & sprang me even though I did not look so good. They saw the diamond in the rough.

Along with being so skinny & a bit sore, I developed a condition called Pancreatitis. This is a condition that caused me to have problems with digestion. It also can be very painful. Thankfully, some blood work discovered this & they were able to put me on a special diet that is low in fat that my body can digest much better. My foster mom is so happy that my appetite is back & I am not feeling so bad any more.

I am still underweight from my time on the streets & my Pancreatitis. Unfortunately with a low fat diet, it is hard for a skinny guy to put on much weight. My foster home is feeding me every morning & evening (I like to eat in the evening better). I am starting to put on some weight & build some of my muscle back. My foster family takes me for short walks to help build up my strength & I am starting to move around a bit more. I still spend quite a bit of time sleeping & recovering from my ordeal.

I also have dry eye. My vet indicated that I was not making any tears. It may be related to my recent circumstances but it is recommended by the Vet that I use eye drops twice a day to help me see better. My vision is not great but it is much better after my eyes are cleaned & I get my drops. I am such a good boy when it is time to get my drops, I come right over & plop down in front of my foster mom without any fuss.

I am a very sweet guy. I love nothing more than to curl up next to my foster family on the couch or at their feet. When I am hungry, I go to the kitchen & cry very quietly. I have 3 other bullies to play with currently & seem to get along fine with them. I do not like new dogs to get right in my face but who does really…??? I don’t have a problem with cats. I have been around them a couple of times & did not show any real interest in them. I also get along fine with children but my foster mom recommends older children since I may take a bit to get completely back to 100%.

If you are looking for a beautiful bully boy who needs a little extra love but will repay that love with undying devotion, I am your man!

Breaking News…

Bruce, an English Bulldog, recently re-united with his family because of some great luck, hard work and the dedication of the ENGLISH BULLDOG RESCUE NETWORK -HOUSTON, TEXAS. (EBRN-Houston)

The dedicated volunteers of the EBRN rescued the lucky boy after he had been picked up as a stray. He had large scrapes on his back, a bad limp, infected eyes, and was fearsomely starved. He was in such terrible shape the workers at the pound thought he may even have been hit by a car and was at least ten years old.

Calling him Sarge, the volunteers of the EBRN immediately began the care they provide all the rescued bullies. A complete medical exam revealed both good news and bad. Luckily, Sarge had no heartworms and no broken bones. But his pancreatitis and dry eye needed lots of medical attention. A special fat free diet was prescribed along with drops for his eyes. But what Sarge most wanted was just to be loved again and that's just what the EBRN was happy to provide until a forever home was found for this sad case.

When English Bulldog puppies were recently stolen from a local pet store, Jen, the rescue coordinator of the EBRN, appeared on the news to ask for help in finding the stolen dogs. And here's where Sarge got really lucky!

His mom, Bethany, just happened to be watching the news and saw Jen. Bethany and husband, Joseph had lost their bullie, Bruce, about a year ago when workers left a back yard gate open at their home. They looked everywhere for Bruce and even after moving, went back to their old neighborhood just in case they might still find him. They had no idea Houston has an English Bulldog Rescue. When Bethany saw the news spot about the stolen bulldogs she immediately went to the website, http://bulldogrescuenetworktexas.blogspot.com, to find out more about the Rescue’s work.

Imagine her surprise when, looking at the bullies currently in the care of the EBRN, she saw Sarge who she immediately recognized as her lost boy Bruce. Even though it had been over a year since Bruce disappeared, Bethany just knew this was her bullie and immediately contacted the EBRN. Of course, Bethany was able to provide the necessary information confirming Sarge was indeed Bruce and just last week, a very excited bullie, now known by his real name Bruce, was overjoyed when he recognized his lost parents. Bethany and Joseph were so grateful for the care and attention provided by the EBRN they made a donation to help the EBRN continue their work.

This is truly a story with a happy ending. Bruce is on the way to making a full recovery and has been re-united with his loving family. However, without the effort of the EBRN this would not have been possible as we all know what happens to strays who wind up at the pound. So, please, remember rescued bullies deserve a chance to have their luck change too and support the EBRN with a donation. Please remember To micro chip your pets this is not expensive nor painful. If you relocate please remember to notify the company with new contact information. You can do this all online. A huge Thank you to my Foster Family.

We put out a Plea lets get those puppies back to Pet City if you have any information No questions asked Please do the right thing. EBRN is here to help.
