My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, my name is Aria,

Female - spayed
Domestic Short Hair
Approx. 1 year old

I'm a lady of patience and grace. The ideal balance between Youth and Maturity; It's true, I may take a moment to emerge from my shell. But treat me with kindness, a gentle touch, and the space to explore my new world at my own pace, and you'll witness the beautiful transformation of a once timid spirit into a loving companion. I'm a mostly calm kitty, low energy gal; with silly burst of energy. Having spent my days in the lively company of four energetic kittens, I'm now on the lookout for a serene forever home. Imagine settling into a cozy evening, the room warmed by the soft glow of the television, curled up by your side or perhaps relaxing with a good book, I'll be right by your side.

My reactions to:

Cats - After raising 4 energetic kittens I need sometime to relax. During my time in foster I absolutely adore my foster brother, Duncan. He's help me emerge from my shell and build confidence. I would love the company of another feline friend
Dogs - I haven't interacted with many dogs. I can be anxious and nervous around new things, for the time being I'd prefer a home without a canine friend
Meeting New people - I can be nervous and cautious when meeting new people, I'll mind to myself for the first few moments, treat me kind and I'll come around in my own time.
Children - I haven't interacted with many children, give me time to build to build my confidence and feel comfortable, I'll come around!
Stressful Situations - I'm a very good lady in the car & carrier. With unknown situations I can be nervous and cautious, I may need some reassurance and confidence building when faced with stressful situations
Playtime & Treats - I love all my toys and treats! A tube treat a day is a sure way to the centre of my heart. I enjoy my feather wands, but my personal favourite is my stuffed shrimp toy, I love tossing it around and catching it

Additional adoption info

All pets available for adoption through the Georgina Animal Shelter and Adoption Centre are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and will have received a parasite preventative or treatment. Adoption fees are $300 for dogs and $175 for cats plus tax. If applicable, the purchase of a pet license will be required at the time of adoption.

Before considering pet adoption, potential pet parents are encouraged to do their own research on the type of pet that they are interested in adopting. Different breeds, for example, can have very different exercise needs or may be prone to certain genetic conditions. It is also a good idea to speak with your local veterinarian to gain insight about the type of pet you are considering adopting and the initial and yearly animal care costs involved with pet ownership.

All adoptions require an application and an in person or phone consultation prior to be being approved.

Pet licensing

Pet licenses aid in the fast return of a lost pet to its owner. They provide an immediate visual clue to anyone who finds the pet, which often results in the pet not having to be brought into an animal shelter.
