My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

WOOHOO!! Congratulations to Wallace aka Wally for graduating from his 10 week training camp.  What a smart boy he is!

Our Wallace has such a gentle nature.  He is a sweet hound mix that is looking for a loving, quiet home.  He would love a family that works from home or is retired to not be left alone much.  He is happiest surrounded by humans and does well with other dogs.

He has a lovely personality and is not your typical outgoing, jumping energetic, searching the yard kind of hound.    He barks infrequently and is not very vocal. This handsome hound is just a really special, really great fur baby!

 About Training Camp:
Pet Rescue By Judy has teamed up with an incredible program called the  Greyhound Advancement Center  which allows some dogs to attend a ten-week prison training program. The program started to help retired racing greyhounds learn how to “dog”.

Greyhound racing is now illegal in our state, but the program worked so well that they decided to open up to other rescues and accept different breeds. Each dog teams with an inmate in their program. This program allows inmates to gain an important skill for when they are released. The head trainers are the best of the best and dogs come out of this program with lots of tricks up their little doggy sleeves. (Don’t worry, the dogs are treated very well and are the apple of their trainer’s eye ).

Our dogs are blessed to learn important obedience training for confidence and becoming awesome additions to a family.   We cannot thank Greyhound Advancement Center enough for giving these dogs a leg up on getting into their forever home!

********************************************************************
Wallace was surrendered to PRBJ because his family said he was not doing well with one of the kids. He is a sweet boy, but he is a little nervous, so we are recommending him in an adult only home or with older teens.

Wallace is potty and crate trained. He is friendly, but can be a bit nervous with new people, so give him a minute to figure you out.

Like many Hounds, Wallace does not like loud noises like balloons, vacuum, sirens and fireworks. He barks at cats outside, but doesn’t chase. This is pretty much the only time he barks...he is not really much of a barking hound.

More about this rescue

We are a private, non-profit rescue located in Sanford, Florida, dedicated to the rescue cats and dogs. Many of them come to us with medical needs. They are doctored to the best of our ability and resources.

Our most urgent goal is to rescue animals that are abandoned or in distress, update their vaccines, and find good new homes for them. But we attempt to be more proactive than that. It is our heartfelt desire to prevent any animal from the need to be "rescued." With that vision in mind, we take a three-prong approach through the education of pet owners and the general public about:
- proper care of animals, including correct diet of good quality food, fresh clean water, daily exercise, and lots of love
- spaying and neutering companion animals (dogs and cats) in order to prevent euthanasia and over-population
- low-cost spay/neuter clinics and wellness centers in their local community
