Meet Iris!
Iris was taken in by a "rescue" years ago that sadly did not live up to the standards it should have. Iris sat for years in a concrete run, exposed to the elements with little interaction, enrichment or simple comforts. Luckily that rescue has been shut down and a group of wonderful people advocated for Iris and helped get her to us. Iris spent 11 years living in those conditions and it shows physically. Iris is overweight and has impaired mobility but is gaining strength and loosing the weight. Iris is a true ray of sunshine, her experience has not caused her to love any less and enjoys any visitor that walks into her room. Iris is truly resilient! We love this hilarious girl and getting to see her personality shine. We would love to see her enjoy her remaining golden years in a home of her own. Iris does take pain medication daily to keep her comfy due to her arthritis but besides that is a fairly healthy senior gal! Iris has been sharing a space with Buddy at the rescue and would likely do well with another mellow dog in a home. We do not know how she is with cats but can cat test her for serious potential adopters. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled on Instagram (@nwdogproject) for updates! If you would like to be considered as Iris's forever home, be sure to submit an adoption application on our website!
