Cuddlebug and her daughter Taterbug are an adorable pair of American guinea pigs looking for a loving guardian.
Cuddlebug was purchased at a petstore with her partner who turned out to be male. Before the family realized the mistake, she had a litter.
Sadly, this is a common problem with mis-sexing of guinea pigs. It’s not always so easy to tell when they are young. The girls were relinquished to Friends of Petraits Rescue.
They get along beautifully and it’s certainly fun to watch the mom and daughter, hold them and feed them. They are good with children holding them.
Momma Cuddlebug is two years old, and her daughter Taterbug is nine months old. The pair eat unlimited timothy, orchard and botanical hays, two cups of fresh salad each day including a variety of cilantro, green, red leaf, and butter lettuce, parsley, and share a half cup of guinea pig pellets a day. Guinea pigs need daily vitamin C from fresh pellets, a 1-inch square of red pepper, or some of their dark leafy greens.
Please read up on guinea pig care and diet before adopting by visiting this excellent website http://www.guinealynx.info/
These girls would love a home with people who will handle them daily, keep them well-fed, nails trimmed, and keep their habitat nice and clean.
If you’re interested in meeting and possibly adopting Cuddlebug and Taterbug, please fill out the adoption application at https://friendsofpetraits.com/guinea-pig-adoption-application/ and follow up to make an appointment by contacting friendsofpetraits@gmail.com
Their adoption fee of $50 for the pair benefits the Friends of Petraits Rescue Group. For an additional $50, you can purchase their 2 foot by 4 foot Midwest guinea pig habitat and a starter kit of all the supplies you’ll need to care for them.
They are being fostered in Chicago’s Andersonville neighborhood.
