Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Silky Mae is a beauty! She is Silky is approximately 8-12 months old, and is wearing a dainty tuxedo.
She was dumped at a Dollar General store while already in the 'faimly way' and cared for by the DGH staff until they alerted SPCHS and one of our best kitty fosters took her in. The timing was perfect, as she delivered very quickly a very large litter of eight. It was the first litter for this beauty who was barely more than a kitten herself.
Despite losing one kitten within 24 hours, Silky Mae has been a marvelous mama taking excellent care of the six boys and one dainty girl. This took a severe toll on SM's health and she's been on special care and foods to rebuild her stamina and her immune system.
Her kittens are now weened, so she is looking for the purr-fect furever home where she will be treated like the goddess that she knows she is meant to be.
She has been spayed and microchipped, is up to date on vaccines, tested negative for FIV/FeLeuk. She is still recovering from the rigors of mothering 7 rambunctious babies.

After you complete an application, there are several things that we will do:
1. We will check your personal references. Please be sure to list two personal references and include a phone number and an email address. (form asks for one; but I like two)
2. If you do not own your place of residence, we will call your landlord or leasing office. Please check with them first to learn about their pet policy.
3. We will call your veterinarian for a reference. We are looking for a history of annual exams, vaccines maintained routinely, annual heartworm tests and monthly preventatives. We require the following:
* All pets in the home must be spayed or neutered.
* If your pet is not up to date on vaccines, please do not submit the application until you have scheduled an appointment with the vet to get your pets current on their vaccines.
4. If you are a 1st-time pet owner, please include the name and phone number of the veterinarian you plan to use.
5. Be sure to call your Vet(s), giving them permission to speak with us.
6. We may need to do a home visit prior to approving your application, or post-adoption.
If these policies and practices are not acceptable, please do not apply.
