My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Prince is a charmer! Weighing in at 58 lbs, he is filled with love for humans, other dogs and play time. He is very curious on walks and likes to sniff around him when on walks. There won`t be a person he won`t try to say hi to as you pass by folks, too!

He is reported to be dog friendly. To ensure compatibility with your resident dog, we will host a doggy meet and greet and AAC. Just let us know when!

Prince is very treat motivated which means continued training will be picked up by him quickly. The good news is that he is already house trained and responds to SIT! If you want to make this guy the Prince of your house, please pop over today and meet him. His beautiful golden body and easy demeanor will win you over.

Additional adoption info

Our shelter has more than 500 available cats and dogs every day!
For pets at the shelter: Adoptions must be completed in-person at the shelter. AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites.
For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.

Adoption Fees:
$80 cats & kittens up to 6 years old
$80 dogs 6 months to 6 years, 30 lbs and up
$100 dogs under 30 lbs and/or under 6 months
$30 small animals
No fee for senior pets 7 years and older

Interested adopters should come to the shelter during business hours to meet with a counselor start looking for a pet who'll be a good fit. Our counselors and volunteers are happy to help with that process.

More about this shelter

Austin Animal Center is the largest open-intake animal shelter in central Texas and we work very hard to try to save 90% or more of the thousands of animals we shelter every year. We always need volunteers and both monetary and in-kind donations to help us in our sheltering and prevention activities. Visit our website to find out how you can help!
