Please read the bio in its ENTIRETY. If you meet the requirements, please send an email to gateway4paws@gmail.com for additional information. Applications can be found here on our website.
Since we are 100% foster-based rescue, only approved applications will be reviewed and/or contacted. We do not allow shipping & do not transport. You must live within 350 miles from Maryville, IL & able to drive there for a meet & greet. Mileage requirements may be lifted for Cavalier experienced homes.
Millicent came into our rescue back in February. She settled into her foster home & everything was going well, mostly. Her foster mom was trying hard to help Millicent stick to her diet plan, but it just wasn't going the way it should. Then we got word that maybe there was a reason she wasn't losing weight.
We took her in for an x-ray. Sure enough, she smuggled in a belly full of puppies! Off to the maternity ward she went. A nice clean area was set up for her, she settled in, and that diet was put aside!
Millicent has been a mom for the very last time.
Millicent is ready to find her own family now. Since being in foster care, Millicent has learned how to be part of a family. She enjoys lounging on the couch during the day with her foster four-legged friends while foster mom is at work and being in foster mom's lap in the evenings. She loves to have the attention. She is very trustworthy and is never put into a kennel.
Millicent is not very good on a leash yet but does walk on one. However, she is a Spaniel and they have a mind of their own. We will only review applications that have appropriate fencing. We encourage you to submit your app with a photo of your fenced yard. She should NEVER EVER be left in a yard without supervision as she has climbed out of a fence before.
Millicent is doing very well with her potty-training routine as long as she is taken out on a regular basis. It is important to note that anytime there is a change in environment or schedule, you must give the dog a chance to be successful. A new routine that employs consistency & praise will help set them up for success.
This is one very sweet girl looking for her forever home. If you are interested in adopting her, make sure you have read up on the breed if you have never had one. Cavaliers are wonderful companions but they are not for everyone financially.
Please let us know if you are ready for an adventurous sidekick, who also really enjoys naps! You can send us an email at Gateway4paws@gmail.com
