Here's what the humans have to say about me:
** Note: Welly is currently in Korea, but we are looking for his forever home in Seattle as his flight from Korea to Seattle is secured for June 16.
Background: Welly was rescued from a puppy mill in Namyangju, Korea, earlier this month. He lived in a confined, dirty cage where no light penetrated. Enduring a life of darkness and forced breeding for profit, Welly’s journey is one of resilience and hope.
Personality and Socialization: Welly is a gentle, quiet, and sweet boy with medium to low energy. His full personality is still emerging as he adjusts to his new life. Currently, he is shy and feeling insecure even after being rescued. Welly is fine with other dogs and never gets into fights, but he is not very comfortable around large groups of dogs. He prefers a quiet and peaceful environment. While he tolerates the presence of other dogs, he is usually not interested in playing or interacting with them.
When it comes to people, Welly is curious and gentle but still shy. He is comfortable with the shelter staff he knows but remains cautious around strangers.
Behaviors: Welly is indoor pee-pad trained and loves treats, which will make training and socialization not too challenging. He is very quiet, and we rarely hear him bark. He is new to a leash, so his adopter will need to be prepared to train him. Welly is a bit nervous in the car but was well-behaved at the vet. He tolerates baths and nail clipping. Though shy, he is gentle and obedient.
Health: Welly has been neutered and microchipped. He is up to date on vaccinations and takes monthly internal and external parasite preventatives. He underwent a comprehensive check-up and is healthy and ready for his forever home.
Ideal Home: Welly would thrive in a calm, quiet home where he can continue to build his confidence and feel secure. A patient and understanding family, preferably without young children, would be ideal for helping him come out of his shell and show his true, loving nature. He prefers a home without other dogs. If you seek a gentle and sweet companion to provide a peaceful and loving environment, Welly is the perfect choice for you.
